British Campaign Furniture: Finally, an Excuse to Wear a Pith Helmet

Googling “British Campaign Furniture” yields this gem of a photo:

“Legendary army officer/tiger hunter/conservationist/author, Lieutenant-Colonel Jim Corbett, sitting in a Roorkhee chair in Dhikala, at the foothills of the Himalayas, approximately 300 kilometers from New Delhi, in Corbett National Park, which was designated India’s first national park in 1936.

Oh, YEAHHH. I mean, if we do coworkout right, everyone will get to set up their own space the way they want it. And mine is TOTALLY going to be the sidecar-portable version of a British campaign camp. I already have the pith helmet, and I can, you know, pull up my khaki socks REALLY high.

I’d like to see more pictures, but the book on Amazon is selling for THREE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS. Crap. Looks like I’ve stumbled into the lair of some very deep-pocketed design fetishists.

  1. Whenever you find yourself at any kind of foothills, you know you got your adventurous lifestyle right.

as a student I wanted to start a travel agency – an ad agency that always travelled.

  2. Man, I don’t even own a normal helmet.

  3. Dude, I totally own that book. I was obsessed with campaign furniture a few years ago. Glad I got it before it apparently went out of print!

    • OMG, seriously? Can I borrow it? That would save me, like (no lie) FOUR HUNNERT DOLLARS. I mean, which I’m not going to spend, but it’s still _some_ kind of fantastic savings.

  4. I’m going to swipe a copy from my local library … I will upload scans somewhere.

  5. Hi Guys
good information, Uncle jim is sitting on roorkee chair and wearing a Roorkee hat too. Once upon a time during british raj these hats were damn famous. Rookee is about 170 kilometers from delhi.
